- Netgear Arlo 3-Camera Home Security System for $180
Netgear Arlo Wireless Home Security System with 3 cameras and required base station for $220, and coupon code EMCTATY28 applies $40 off in the cart.
It's a cheap way to get 3 surveillance camears around a home.
The included base station acts as a wireless hub for the cameras, and stores up to 7 days of camera footage in Netgear's cloud for free.
Access live and recorded footage from a mobile device.
If you're looking for something quick and simple without having to run wires outside, this is a good price for a 3-camera system.
However, our experience with Netgear Arlo is not that great.
The night vision is fair, hard to see detail.
The wireless cameras come with batteries that last 2-8 weeks (depending on the distance from the base station).
Replacing the batteries are inconvenient and gets pricey over time.
To save battery life, the Arlo waits until it detects motion before recording, but does not start recording fast enough.
People and vehicles have often passed by the camera, making many of the recorded videos useless.
However, if you cannot run electrical wires to places where you want to surveil, the Arlo may be one of the cheapest and best options available today.
We have a couple Amcrest cameras near entryways of our home, which work quite well.
This model is for indoor-use only, and took time to configure properly, but has a lot of nice features, works independently without needing its own base hub, and uploads photos & videos to our own FTP server.
