Details:Delta Airlines In-Flight Entertainment Will be Free:
According to news reports, Delta Airlines will start offering its in-flight entertainment service free to all customers who fly their airline. According to their official press release, Delta Studio will include free streaming of movies, TV shows, and music to customers' mobile devices and laptops, in addition to in-seat screens found on some aircraft. Aircraft that also have live TV service are expected to offer it free, too.

The free service is scheduled to start on July 1.

There will still be a fee for inflight Wifi (Internet access).

This is a nice perk for customers who have seen airline services decline over the last 15 years. We now pay fees for checked baggage, "preferred" seating on planes, and to make flight changes. Some airlines do not give snacks to passengers anymore. Airlines no longer compensate customers for cancelled flights like they used to. Many airlines oversell flights to sell seats at higher prices, then "bump" passengers who check-in late.

Air travel is not getting much better, and their customer service has declined dramatically.

That being said, it is nice to hear one at least one airline is giving something back to its frustrated customer base: free movies and TV shows.

Note. The following airlines already give customers free TV and/or streaming movies on their aircraft: Jet Blue, Southwest (live TV on your mobile device), Alaska Air, and Virgin America.
