About this item

  • UltraWide Gaming with 1ms Motion Blur Reduction--- The Full HD UltraWide 21:9 aspect ratio makes games more immersive. 1ms Motion Blur Reduction allows gamers to enjoy the precision and accuracy needed to play at a very high level. With a response time that is virtually 1ms, blurring and ghosting are reduced to make the action smoother and gaming more precise.
  • AMD FreeSync Technology---- FreeSync reduces the tearing and stuttering that occur between a graphic card's frame rate and a monitor's refresh rate. With FreeSync, gamers can experience seamless, fluid movement throughout games without the need to upgrade your graphics card. Dynamic Action Sync --- Gamers can experience optimized, fast-pace gaming with Dynamic Action Sync. Dynamic Action Sync is a feature that minimizes input lag so the game play in RTS games is more responsive.
  • Game Mode--- Set your game mode to optimize and customize your gaming conditions. There are 3 gamer modes, 2 First-Person-Shooter modes and even a RTS pre-set mode so you can choose the best mode for you and the game you're playing. Black Stabilizer---- Keep visibility even in dark scenes. LG's Black Stabilizer senses dark scenes and helps make it brighter so that you can find the enemies hiding and waiting to attack your player in the dark.
  • V-Line Stand The sleek design of this gaming monitor is accentuated by red color accents on the V-shape stand. This monitor will feel right at home as part of any gamer's desktop setup. Bright and beautiful, BUT...

Bright and beautiful, BUT...
The reason I got this particular monitor is because I'd purchased it's smaller, older sibling, the LG 29UM-68-P, and been extremely happy with it. It's basically the 2016 29-inch version of this monitor. Both are incredibly bright and crystal clear, and I've never had a complaint about the 29" model. This one happens to be even cheaper (even at that time of this writing, $368 vs $299), so I thought, why not? For the most part, I'm pleased with it, though color accuracy leaves something to be desired. Not only can I now see that the 29" model has a slight red cast, I'm left with a slight green cast on the 34" (hard to see in the photo, but it's there). I've fiddled with settings but never been able to get either of them to match or get one or the other closer to pure white. I have half a mind to get a colorimeter because frankly it drives me a little nuts. Also, either because of the sheer size or because people complained, the VESA mount doesn't partially block the video connections (looking at you, 29) - everything is easily accessible. If this will be your *sole monitor* then I couldn't recommend it enough. If this will add to an existing monitor you might want to look elsewhere, or be prepared to spend time fidgeting with controls to get it to look right. Still, all that being said, I do love it, and if the news that NVIDIA will be adding Freesync compatibility in an upcoming driver release is true, I'll be even happier when gaming with it!Edit 1/15/19: The Freesync compatible NVIDIA driver released today and while it's not one of the approved monitors it does appear to be working without any issues. I also bought a colorimeter but have yet to have any luck with it.Also, wanted to add that the joystick control is probably the easiest of any monitor control out there. Push away from you for up, towards you for done up to enter/select. I don't have to try and remember how to use it - it's that intuitive.
