256GB is massive storage for a small portable flash drive, but many reviews say this drive performs slowly. That means it can take several minutes or hours to copy files to and from this little drive.

Reviewers on Amazon.com, on BestBuy.com, and on Costco.com confirm the slow speeds.

How slow? If the drive performs at 5 MBytes per second (as some reviewers have seen), it can take:
  • 20 seconds to copy 100 MB
  • 3.5 minutes to copy 1 GB
  • 14 hours to copy 256 GB
So, this drive can be good for backups and for bringing a lot of files with you on trips, without filling up precious space on your laptop's disk. It is certainly fast enough to play movies and music files. However, if you have little patience and prefer files to copy much faster, this is not for you.
