Heat level:this is a good deal
Countries:available in USA
Details:Dimension 4600, 2.4GHz $530 after rebate, $780 with 17" LCD
(expired)

This is a good deal on a new computer. Click the above link to configure a Dell Dimension 4600 with 533MHz front side bus. I configured one as follows:
  • Pentium4 processor at 2.4GHz with 533MHz front side bus
  • Windows XP Home
  • $50 mail-in rebate option checked
  • 256MB dual-channel DDR 333MHz memory (two 128MB's)
  • Dell Quietkey Keyboard
  • Dell 2-button mouse
  • Wordperfect Productivity Pack software
  • 40GB ATA-100 hard drive
  • no floppy drive
  • 48x CD-ROM drive
  • for the 2nd bay, choose "Free Offer 48x CD-RW drive"
  • no monitor
  • 128MB DDR GeForceFX 5200 graphics card with TV-Out and DVI
  • integrated 5.1 audio
  • no speakers
  • integrated 10/100 Ethernet
When added to cart, the above configuration came to $614. Automatic 10% discount applies in the cart, bringing it to $553 with free shipping. Add sales tax, which could bring that price to around $580. Don't forget to send in the $50 mail-in rebate.

If you need a monitor, I strongly recommend adding the 17" E171FP LCD flatpanel monitor for $250, a price which can be found on the computer's configuration page. That is a great price on the E171FP, the best I've seen! The 18" 1800FP LCD is available for $400, and the 20" for $840, both are excellent prices too.

Advisory: This deal requires the customer to mail in at least one rebate. Make sure that you save a copy of the rebate form immediately, just in case they take the rebate form offline. It is also recommended that you mail in the rebate immediately after receipt of the item, otherwise you might forget to do so. And you should mark the maximum date that your check is expected to arrive, so that you follow up with the company if you do not receive the check in time. Rebates can be annoying, time consuming, and require a responsible person to follow the tedious rebate instructions. And, this involves the possible risk of the customer fulfilling the rebate requirements but the company choosing not to send the customer a rebate check for any reason. The more well-known or reputable the company is (the company itself, not the company's products), the more likely it is that you will get your rebate. If the rebate is from a company that you've never heard of, of if you question the company's business practices, chances are high that you will never see a rebate check. Understand that dealing with rebates are risky, so ask yourself if the product is worth full price in case you never receive a rebate check.
