Obi200 Voice-Over-IP Single-Line Home Phone Adapter for $34 through Newegg's Ebay store. It is rare to find it under $45.

The OBi boxes give you free telephone service over your high speed Internet connection. You can set it up with Google Voice, or follow our instructions here:
  1. Plug the OBi to your Internet router and a home telephone.
  2. Sign up for a free Google Voice account, if you do not already have one. Assign yourself a Google Voice phone number. (video)
  3. Go to OBiTalk.com, and link your OBi device to your OBi account.
  4. Wait a few minutes, then you can make and receive calls on your home phone. All calls are free within the US and Canada.
Beware that Google Voice does not let you dial 911 for emergencies; you need to use your mobile/cell phone for emergencies.

Unlike the Ooma, you are not locked in to any service. You can use Google Voice for now, or replace it with a paid telephone service such as Anveo which includes enhanced 911 emergency calling and other features. Log in to your OBiTalk account to manage your device and its phone service.
