Details:More problems with Staples:
Amazingly, I am actually hearing more and more problems every day about people who placed orders Staples.com. Here are more reported problems with orders being cancelled often for no reason, and often without even notifying the customer. In one recent case, several people tried to order a sale item of a Canon F50. The orders were reportedly accepted only minutes after the item went on sale, accepted with "processing" status, and several days later Staples cancelled the orders saying that no inventory was left and the items were all gone. However since no one in fact had any success getting any of the products, then it may be likely that Staples never had any inventory at all, and simply put an item up for sale with no intention of ever selling it at the lower price.

It makes me wonder if Staples is attempting to stay competitive by advertising as many hot deals as their competitor's do, however cancelling most orders after a few days of "trying to fulfill the order". A company would know that the person would not be purchasing the product from a competitor, because they would be expecting it from Staples. Although I doubt Staples is actually pulling this tactic, it still kind of makes me wonder if Staples should be trusted as an online vendor.

Other recent problems with Staples: If you want to submit a complaint to the CEO of Staples, here is the current contact information that I have:
    Ronald Sargent
    President and CEO
    Staples Inc
    500 Staples Drive
    Framingham, MA 01702
    Fax: 508-253-8955

also, here is another point of contact:
    Paul Capelli
    Vice President, Public Relations
    phone: 508-253-8530
    email: paul.capelli@staples.com

From this I would gather that since they use firstname.lastname@staples.com, the best email address to contact the CEO and CFO would be Ronald.Sargent@staples.com for the CEO and John.Mahoney@staples.com for the CFO.

Update: However, some people may prefer to contact their state's attourney general's office. For example, the state of Michigan recently sued Circuit City for advertising items for extremely low prices. The ads would say "No raincheckes" and "Limited Quantities." Then Circuit City would only stock a quantity of one or two and rely on customers to purchase alternative items at higher prices when advertised items were out of stock immediately. Although the Staples.com situation is not the same, this may be another route that consumers can take if complaints to Staples go unheard.
