Details: | Seagate 2TB Hard Drive for $70 Seagate NAS (ST2000VN000) 2TB Serial-ATA 3.5" Hard Drive for $70 today. Normally sells for $80, has mostly positive reviews, and includes a 3-year manufacturer's warranty. There are also a lot of 2TB hard drives on Ebay for around $50 to $70, but without a 3-year warranty. Some include a 1-year warranty from the seller, which can be a better deal than buying a cheap refurbished 2TB drive from Newegg which only comes with a 90-day warranty. If reliability is important, and you cannot live with losing your files, consider buying a bunch of 2TB drives and setting up RAID. RAID levels 5, 6, and 50 are popular for storing a lot of data, and can handle corruption or a failure of one or two drives at a time, depending on which RAID level you choose. Ebay also has a lot of 5+ year old hardware RAID cards for under $25 that can manage your RAID array, such as the 3Ware 9650SE cards (some with cables), and will only support hard drives up to 2TB each. If you just want a giant hard drive, a Seagate 8TB Hard Drive is available for $229. |
